Homework
Enchanted her homework to write itself. It wrote itself wrong. She now does it by hand, supervised by the bell.
First year. One spell. Unlimited confidence.
Wizard Student is a first-year at the Hexagon Academy of Reasonably Applied Magic, accreditation pending since 1682. She knows exactly one spell: it makes honey slightly warmer. Not warm. Slightly warmer. Her professors call it “a foundation.” She calls it “basically fire magic, if you think about it.”
The hat came from a secondhand shop and is cursed to fly off the moment she stops walking. This sounds inconvenient until you check the academy leaderboard, where she holds the best step streak in school history. The curse cannot be removed. The three wizards who tried are fine now, mostly. Two of them have their eyebrows back.
The little gold bell rings when she’s about to make a bad decision. It has not stopped ringing since October. She has learned to treat it as ambient music — the academy’s way of saying “we believe in you, but the bell doesn’t.”
Enchanted her homework to write itself. It wrote itself wrong. She now does it by hand, supervised by the bell.
Banned from the forbidden section. She would like to note that being banned is “technically the default state.”
Her invisibility potion made the professor’s chair extremely visible instead. It glowed for a week. She got partial credit for “a result.”
Passed her flying exam by walking. Nobody had specified. The rulebook has since been amended, with her name in the footnote.
